D-O-N-E

I know the world in unnecessarily rude, I have my moments, but some people are just plain mean. I've been working non-stop in my room and at home on my stuff and the last few requests I've gotten from people. I haven't even logged onto my blog in days. That's weird coming from the girl that posted multiple times a day just a few weeks ago. It's also weird I've gotten so upset with things that have occurred this week.

I may be closing up shop permanently after 1 rude person. It's funny how we things happen with our students, and 1 ruins something for everyone, that's kinda how I feel right now. You'd think people would learn by the time they were grownups. One mean person has left me thinking maybe I don't want to bother dealing with things. I'd like to say that I made a silly mistake, but my wonderful mentor for the past 2 years tells her kids there is no such thing. So I'll go with it. I tried to do something nice for someone and in return I was met with some insanely mean people. Maybe I was right to stop blogging the first time around, I love sharing things with people and helping people make their rooms the way they want them... because well I love having my room exactly the way I want it. Maybe I'll sleep on it for a few more days... in the mean time back to my main focus right now, my new 25 friends that I get to meet this Wednesday!!

I SOOO enjoy your blog and you have such amazing ideas I would love to incorporate into my classroom! Please sleep on it and remember one person doesn't matter! They make it suck sometimes but there's so many others that love your posts! Like me! PLEASE keep it up!!!! I found out I had to move to third grade this year as well (which I wasn't wanting at all), and when I came across your blog on Pinterest, I became a little excited for the change for the first time since I'd been told I was moving grade levels. I look forward to more ideas and cute ideas from you!!

Thanks again for being such an inspiration!

I am so sorry that someone was rude to you. My mom always told me that people are rude, and make others feel bad because they do not feel good about themselves and cannot stand to see other people happy! I hope that this bit of wisdom helps. Please sleep on your decision. I know that there are many teachers who get great inspiration from your blog- including me!

Peace and Prayers!

I'm so sorry that happened! Try to focus on all of the people supporting you rather than that one person who wasn't raised with compassion. I always find that the rude/mean people have not adjusted well to hardships in their lives.

I feel you though, my feelings were hurt by a fellow teacher the other day, but I am choosing to chalk it up to her usual bitterness rather than take it to heart. You have touched a lot of people with your blog, thanks for sharing!

I am sorry someone was so rude/mean. It stinks........I try to teach my kiddos daily that what ever you put out into the world, you get back. It's really had to teach the kids that when some adults don't live that way. Please focus on the fact that you have blessed SO many people with you words and talents. Please don't let that one person "win" in this. Can't you block them on your blog?? I don't know, I still kinda new too.....anyway, that person is doing that because, bottom line, they are probably jealous of all you wonderful talent!! Don't let them steal your joy:) Praying for you:)

You have been wonderful with sharing your enthusiasm and wonderful ideas. My classroom will be zebra-tastic thanks to you! While I hate to see you stop blogging (this is the only blog I officially follow), you need to do what feels right for you. Have a wonderful school year and please know you are appreciated by many out in bloggy land. :-)

Just wanted to let you know that when I found your blog you pumped me up and got me out of a "teaching slump" I had found myself in. Thanks for allowing us into your teacher world and helping us make our rooms and lessons so fantastic. I hope to read more on your blog. Your blog IS my FAVORITE!

Fran said...

I love your blog! I think that no matter what position you are in, it always seems like there are just a few people like that. :( I have used many of your ideas in my classroom. I guess just try to be the "bigger person".

Sarah said...

Your creative pizzaz and friendly, inspiring thoughts and words have really motivated me. I know so many others feel the same way. Mean people are the worst...most teachers are so caring and so big-hearted. When people hurt us, we really take it to heart - it's challenging not to do so. Reflect on the show of thanks from so many of your fans and supporters. We look to you to cheer us up and add sparkle, flair, and care to our classrooms - because we LOVE and APPRECIATE you. What a shame that some really rude individual is in a classroom with young people and in a school with so many dedicated individuals. I bet that person brings storm clouds to many people's days. That's really pathetic. You, Miss Lady, are a positive influence to sooooo many! We celebrate your joys and excitement along with you - and feel your pain and hurt as you are recovering from some ridiculous lunatic. Here's to you and your positive, uplifting spirit! xo

Ooh, let me speak with them! I have been teaching for 12 years now and am always looking for new ideas... I was in a rut... I found your blog and am totally inspired and in awe. I am doing a zebra theme this year and when people see my room they love it and I tell them to go check you out, that it was your idea. I have overheard other teachers in teacher stores talking about the this blog "Teaching in Flip Flops". You are amazing and I would be very sad if you discontinued your blog because of someone else's pettiness and most likely, jealousy! Keep it up... Have a wonderful school year with your kiddos and know that you are not only inspiring them, but also teachers hundreds of miles away! :)

Noooo! I just found your blog, have bought a few items from you, and loooove what you make! I've copied many dot/zebra freebies that you've offered and my room is starting to look so fabulous! I would love to buy your zebra homeworkopoly when it becomes available. Please don't stop because of one socially inept person. You have a lot of fans!

Do NOT let this person win!! You are a very talented lady and I absolutely LOVE your Blog!! First of all you need to SLOW Down!!! You have become very popular very quickly, and I have been wondering how you have been able to do it all. Right now you need to focus on getting YOUR room perfect for those little cuties and IF you have time share your ideas. If you have orders to fill finish those then take a BREAK! You don't want to start out the school year wore out already! If you stop your blog then you will miss out on sharing your creativity with the world. Also, you don't have to offer anything for free! (Keep that in mind!!) I have bought numerous things from your shop and they were all very inexpensive and I will continue to buy them. Anyone that is on here should understand that you are a TEACHER and are already stressed out about getting ready for this school year, and they need to be patient with you filling their orders! Please don't give it up, but start letting "you" rule your life rather than your "blog"!! I know you are just like me in wanting to make everything perfect and share everything with everyone, but girl you need to just CHILL!!!!! I hope you enjoy your few days off, and I look forward to your next post about those little cuties!!!!

I found your blog and now my room and I are both transformed. You are always going to encounter joy stealers in life. DO NOT let them setal your joy. I have been very sad the last few days, when I look and there is nor new cute stuff!!! Keep it up and forget the joy stealers, Satin sends them to do just that>>steal your joy!!!

That is so sad someone would be like that. I just want to let you know that I love your blog and have found so many lovely things her to use in my classroom. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful creations with us.

This makes me sad. I shared your blog with several teachers at my school since most of us are using zebra stuff for our jungle theme. I wish you could take a peek in the classrooms at my school. You would find sooooo much of your stuff. Three of them came back to me to say thank you for sharing your blog. Please don't stop because of a negative Nancy. Love your wonderful ideas!!!

Dana said...

I love everything you have shared! I have a jungle theme and have used MANY of your zebra things. Normally, rude people need to put someone down or be mean to make themselves feel lifted up. So, show them how really GREAT you are, and rise above them. People well definitely think highly of you and see the other individual as the low person they are. In other words, keep doing the wonderful things you do!

I may not know you well, but you cannot let one person dampen your joy. There are so many phenomenal people out there... and I have realized lately it even comes in people you would have never expected. People are negative because A) They are jealous, B) They do not have the talents to produce what you do, and C) They may not have the skills you do, so they want to do anything to "up" themselves. Believe in the people you ARE inspiring... even in one visit, I really like your weblog. (Hugs)

I'm sorry you had to deal with a rude person. I'm still marveled at "grown-ups" who would rather act their shoe size than their age.

But when I'm facing a particularly hard day in the classroom and feel like giving up, I think about all the students are ARE good and respectful and hard-working. Unfortunately, it seems that sometimes the "bad" people outnumber the "good," but I encourage you to look at all the people you've helped and all these kind comments you're receiving!

Maybe take a little hiatus to cool off, but please don't give up on us altogether! You have contributed so many wonderful tools for teachers, and I hate to see all of it go.

So each day- well actually multiple times a day- I click the bookmark that sends me to your fun and sassy blog! Each time your page loads I am waiting to see that the "meanie" has appologized. That is what I teach my 3 year old. Check yourself and know when you have stepped outside the lines. Step 2 make an "I'm sorry" to the person whose heart you have heart. Part of being so fab puts you under the scrutiny and carelessness of others - and even the harshness of others that cannot seem to find the same fullness and satisfaction from their own lives. I would love to beg and plead for you to come back and continue to inspire so many people with your sparkle- but it is also smart to protect yourself. Feeling an emotional slap is hard to recover from. I wish you well and have to tell you that we miss you in bloggy land!

My boyfriend has been reading a great deal about "trolls". They are people that like to create problems on the internet. He told me a story about trolls who follow wedding blogs just to tell the bride how ugly everything she picks out is. Unfortunately, these people have nothing better to do with their time except mess with the psyche of others. Don't let the trolls bring you down!
